How very often I hear this sentiment expressed by those who lament the passing of the founder of the Church of Satan. This is the common lament of having missed out on the exciting first few years of the birth of the Satanic Age.
What would it have been like to have been at the Black House, to have participated in the rituals, to have listened to Doctor LaVey lecture, to have been able to sit in and listen to one of his rousing organ recitals? Regret at not having been there, not having seen what was going on, at missing the moments of history as they unfolded is a common experience for the Satanist who now learns what happened earlier.

There are two books that I now consider to be essential to understand Satanism. These are The Satanic Bible and The Satanic Scriptures. Bracketed by these two books we now have a summary of the essence of what Satanism is, how it is expressed, as well as amazing insights into what it has been like to be there in the Church of Satan since the beginning and up to the present day.
